Our story crosses states and seasons, but the reason underneath it has stayed the same: a mother learning her children’s skin, making what her family needed, and eventually sharing that care with others.
This is where our family story began.
Amari and Aamiyah were born in Pennsylvania. Long before by A’amia had a name, the first chapters were simply family chapters—motherhood, growing children, and learning to notice the small differences in what each child’s skin needed.
The brand came later. Paying attention came first.
Our family grew. So did what we were learning.
Malia was born in Sugar Land, Texas, in the Houston area. With three children, one lesson became impossible to miss: sensitive and eczema-prone skin did not look or feel the same every day, in every season, or on every child.
That truth still guides by A’amia now. Different skin is not failed skin. Care begins with understanding what the skin is asking for today.
We made what our family needed.
For more than a decade, founder Lea Wilson formulated natural skincare for her family while learning what sensitive and eczema-prone skin asked for across different days, seasons, and stages of childhood.
The practice was observation, adjustment, and care—not chasing a trend and not expecting every skin day to look the same.
Then the family ritual became a business.
In October 2020, by A’amia Skin Salvation began as a business in North Carolina.
What had been years of private family care became something we could share: fragrance-free products with clear roles, honest education, and rituals designed to help other families feel more informed instead of overwhelmed.
From our home into Skinfolk.
Growth has looked like conversations at tables, questions from caregivers, family members helping behind the scenes, products reaching retail shelves, and people choosing to make by A’amia part of their own rituals.
Skinfolk is the part of this story that keeps expanding: a community connected by sensitive and eczema-prone skin, shared learning, family, and the belief that care can be both clear and beautiful.
The business has grown. The reason has stayed simple.
Today, by A’amia carries forward the same practice that started at home: pay attention, make care easier to understand, protect the dignity of the person inside the skin, and never make perfection the price of feeling cared for.
